Inaugurated in 1908, Loulé Municipal Market is located in the historic city centre and is open throughout the year. Recently restored and modernised, it allows the municipal market to operate inside while maintaining the original architectural style. It is possible to buy local and organic products, as well as fresh fish and regional Algarvian products.

Although it dates to 1866, it was only in 1912 that the construction of the new buildings began using a technique that consisted of supporting each of the buildings on stilts, these buildings being connected through brick arches - which gives it its characteristic orange tone. The market area consists of two rectangular spaces - the Fish Market and the Vegetable Market. Open daily, it is visited by hundreds of people looking for the best organic and fresh products.

Portimão`s Municipal Market is one of the great modern markets in the Algarve region. Open daily it is the place of election for shopping all week long. Although it doesn`t have the traditionality that can be found in the small markets around the Algarve, Portimão`s Market stands out as a treasure for gastronomy lovers, being the place chosen by top restaurants to supply themselves with the freshest products. Besides the freshness of the ingredients, flowers and products linked to the traditional handicraft of the region are also sold.

Ponta da Piedade is one of the region`s most picturesque and impressive settings. With rocks sculpted by the tides over thousands of years, the naturally designed caves and tunnels give it an unparalleled beauty. With its extremely transparent water, Ponta da Piedade is one of the reference places to visit during your stay in the Algarve.

In Carvoeiro can be found the famous caves of Algar Seco. Carefully sculpted by the wind, they shelter several natural pools of crystal-clear water and the famous "Boneca" - the famous rock with the shape of an inverted cone that looks like a doll when seen from the sea.

Gone are the days when Benagil was just a small fishing village. Situated along the Algarve coast, Benagil beach is one of the most popular beaches for sunbathing or visiting the famous cave, either by boat or in kayaks. It is possible to start the boat trip from other beaches and take the opportunity to visit the spectacular rock formations that mark the Algarve coast.

Estói possesses one of the best palaces showing the "Rococo" style of the 19th century. Painted in pink tones and surrounded by incredible decorative gardens and situated near the Roman Ruins of Milreu, the palace is for many authors the most significant manifestation of Romanticism in the Algarve. Until a few years ago, the palace presented itself as a semi-ruin, however until recently it has seen its grandeur reborn, having been converted into a luxurious hotel. The exterior and the gardens are the main attraction and can be visited even by those who are not staying at the hotel.

Housed in the building of the old fish factory, Féu, next to the Arade River, Portimão Museum invites you to discover the origins and evolution of its community, territory and the most outstanding aspects of its industrial and maritime history. In addition to the permanent exhibition "Portimão, Territory and Identity", the museum is divided into three areas: archaeology, underwater discoveries and the recreation of mackerel and sardine canning, as well as the assembly lines accompanied by sound effects.

Formerly known as the Archaeological Museum, the current Faro Municipal Museum is housed in the magnificent Renaissance-style Convento da Nossa Senhora da Assunção located in a former Jewish quarter of the city. The museum features five long-term exhibitions that reflect Faro´s origins and history, from Roman to contemporary times, through a regional perspective.

Faro and its picturesque historic centre, the castle and the city walls are a must for anyone visiting the region. To this day Faro shows traces of the Islamic occupation very clearly. The old city walls of Faro, now called Vila Adentro, are not strategically located on high points in the city, as in other places such as Mértola, but near the docks and overlooking the Ria Formosa - at the time the most important economic asset for the city.

The Roman and Muslim settlements in the city had a great impact on the traditionality that the centre of Lagos shows. Thanks to its economic importance and privileged location, Lagos played a fundamental role in the Age of Discoveries, as it was from here that several ships set sail for the unknown world

Located in the central part of the Algarve, formerly Faro, Silves was the official capital of the Algarve and is therefore considered one of the oldest areas in Portugal. Silves Castle, built during the Moorish occupation of the Algarve, is the best-preserved castle in the region. Its dark red stone walls attract all those who choose to immerse themselves in the tranquillity of the town. The castle contrasts with the maze of white-painted houses and cobbled streets that lead down to the river.

Situated on the southernmost coast of Portugal, this picturesque town is among the most beautiful historical sites in Portugal. Situated along the Gilão River, Tavira showcases an incredible mix between traditional Portuguese heritage and the Moorish influences deeply rooted in the region. Hidden within the maze of cobbled streets are houses decorated with traditional tiles, family restaurants and several traditional churches.

Marking the transition between sea and land, the Ria Formosa is a large lagoon system extending along the coast of the eastern Algarve. It is the most important wetland in southern Portugal, comprising a wide variety of habitats. Enjoy the vast sandy shores of the islands and the footpaths that cross them or by boat trips.

The environmental park trail extends over 5 kilometres, starting near the banks of Ribeira de Quarteira, where dense riverside vegetation can be seen. The trail passes near the Vilamoura Riding Centre and enters agricultural fields with traditional Algarvean crops. You can also visit two bird observatories where you can fully enjoy tranquil contact with nature.

Recognised as a Site of Community Importance, Ria de Alvor is an area favoured by its natural beauty, privileged for fishing and shellfish breeding, in a place not yet deprived of its characteristics by tourist activity. The Ria´s landscape consists of grey dunes, beaches and estuaries. The magic of the Ria de Alvor comes at the end of the day when shades of red, silver and lilac blend together - absolutely mesmerizing for those who observe them.
